Hidden gem Tucktaway behind the main street of new Hope, has a wonderful sitting area just off the waterfront great for a romantic little cup of coffee with French pastries
MoreIt was really dark and cramped in here, and the macarons we took to go were awful. There literally wasn't any cream in them and they were really doughy and dense. I expected good ones from a French bakery
MoreI don't understand the negative reviews complaining about the quality of the pastries. I stop here on my bike rides all the time and evrything I've ever tried has been terrific! They say if you want to know where a good bakery is, ask a cyclist, and this place is very popular with the region's cyclists!
MoreI had a really nice afternoon coffee here. Sat with my friend and chatted about nothing while eating small pastries and drinking our whatever we were drinking. It's got a nice atmosphere, and the food and drinks hit the spot. I would for sure go again.
MoreThis place is a must when visiting New Hope. Very cozy with great french pastries and coffee.
MoreEverything there is tasty and beautiful
Franchise father bakes everything... amazing goods, great family place. Herd to find but worth the search :)
MoreGreat coffee and pastries, some of the best we've ever tried in the United States.
MoreI am a big fan of French bakeries overall, but this place is garbage. The macaroons all tasted the same, the woman working there spoke very strangely to us, and everything was overpriced. A tourist trap.
MoreGreat French bakery, just like being in France. Love it
Delicious patisserie. Exciting and unusual selections. Hidden in the back but signage out front.
MoreEscape New Hope's crazy streets at this quiet off the main path French bakery. We had the croissants and crumb cake and they were very good. The employees were very friendly. Nice view of the water to.
MoreBest chocolate chip cookies!
The owner is incredibly rude. Don’t bother patronizing this place
Death by cake! ❤️❤️❤️ endless choices, limited time. 🎂 if I must die, let me eat cake and die smiling 😋 Thank you C’est La Vie French Bakery 🤗
MoreI went in expecting French pastries better than what I can find at the supermarkets. I was disappointed. I tried their palmier and madeleine. Madeleine was dry, which is pretty hard to achieve... with all the butter it usually requires. The palmier was just ok. I saw they had a tray full of macarons that looked really sad. They didn't have any feet, and were cracked and dry looking with not enough filling to be visible from outside. I debated getting their croissant but couldn't see any flaky layers that should be visible.
MoreThis is better than any pastry coffee shop in Paris. I know because I've been to Paris and this is better. If you are into bicycling, then this should be your rest stop.
MoreAlways get the almost croissant when we’re in town.
The Taste and feel of a little shop in France all in a corner in PA!
Appalled! The Cafe Religieuse tasted like it had been uncovered in the freezer for weeks, the chocolate between the top and bottom was liquid (read: old) and there was a long grey hair in it! The filing of the hazelnut cone had no flavor at all. The epis had a decent crust and was chewy, but had little flavor development. The croissants are ok, but those from Costco may be better than the croissant here. The taste is good, but they fail to achieve the flakiness of a true croissant. They were the best item we tried.(Disclaimer: I graduated an ACF culinary school, cooked for 11 years, and have traveled extensively through France , Switzerland, & Germany)
MoreExcellent croissant and coffe.its like being in France.
Friendly service, great selection. Taste was good. Not great.
Really good food, but service is slow
Fine pastries made here. Good coffee. Brioche on weekends. Outdoor patio seating by the river.
MoreThis is a hidden jewelry in New Hope - hidden in a tiny alley. You have to make a left turn to this alley from main street. Unfortunately, most people missed it. Their best item (for me) is the walnut with cinnamon bread - super delicious and the price is very reasonable, cheaper than Paris Baguette or the bakery shop in Mitsuwa. Their latte is pretty good too. Although their store is in a tiny alley, but they've got an exclusive view to the river/bridge and they provide tables and chairs that you can sit and enjoy the view and the food. Of course, is too cold to sit outside in the winter, but they also have 3 or 4 small tables in the store.
MoreWas there yesterday - first time ever. The pastries looked great, but unfortunately didn't have much flavor. BLAND is the best description. Nice service - very friendly, but not worth the stop if having a good desert is the goal. The cookie I got just didn't taste like anything - looked good, just no flavor. The chocolate mousse my daughter got didn't taste like anything. Threw away what we got as no one could eat it.
MoreC'est La Vie is a hidden gem with real authentic French pastries in the middle of New Hope. Almost everything here is delicious with a few small exceptions. There plain coisants are not up to par with the rest and they will turn up their noses if you ask for a biscotti. They only take cash and they have a bit of an authentic French attitude but oh my are those pastries delicious.
MoreQuaint and cozy. Big variety of fresh pastries and nice selection of breads. We enjoy coming here early for a coffee and pastry. It does have both indoor and outdoor seating. They only accept cash.
MoreWe ordered the traditional almond macarons for our wedding. The bakery was so easy to work with and gave us a treat that is still being talked about! Many guests raved about the cookies and asked where they could get more. This is one of our favorite stops for coffee and a treat every time we visit New Hope and they were a lovely, special and appreciated addition to our wedding, thank you so much!!
MoreI was craving some fresh pastries after having visited France in February and did a search and found that this place was open today! This places is tucked away in the back by the river in a cute town. Everything is amazing and the staff are so friendly and warm. My favorite are the croissants and danishes, specifically the cheese danish. They are extremely buttery, crisp, and fresh. Every flavor has something different to offer.
MoreConsistently good with traditional pastries and breads. The pastry dough is flaky and buttery, the fillings are tasty., Good coffee too and a nice setting. Definitely worth the trip.
MoreI stopped here after being disappointed with an ice cream at a place close by, so I'm glad I could more than satisfy a craving for something sweet. I ordered the cream puff and it was absolutely delightful. Extremely fresh with a wonderful cream texture that is comfortably between whipped cream and custard. A perfect, delicious complement to the coffee, too. I ordered an iced coffee and it was great. Nice, friendly servers and decent prices for high-quality baked goods. I definitely plan to stop back when visiting New Hope again to try some of their other treats.
MoreAlway good been going there for years never disappoints. Outstanding pastries good service a little piece of Paris
MoreLove this little authentic French Bakery right in the middle of New Hope. I try to go there during the week when the tourists are not there. They’re expanding their back patio deck to overlook the Delaware River. Lovely.
MoreIf I'm in the area I have to stop at this shop for the pastries, no exception. Coffee is always way to hot but the pastries are worth.
MoreThis place was fantastic. The baked goods were amazing and the service was great. We were in the area for a conference and are going back again this morning. Definitely recommend.
MoreLovely local cafe right on the river. Specialty coffees and wonderful pastries. Few-5/6 tables inside. More elbow room outside on patio. Situated down a driveway from streetside curb between 2 buildings. Great place to unwind. They also have restrooms for customers.
MoreBest bikers spot in Bucks County!
I’ve been a long time patron over 20 years, and appreciate all of the food here. This week I went in to the shop-and they had signs up asking for no more than 3 customers at a time, and guides on the floor to help with social distancing. Excellent. But then what the heck? The gal behind the counter had a mask on-but not covering her nose. And the owner-had his mask down around his neck while he moved from the kitchen into the store to stock items. Really??? Not coming back.
MoreWe had the pleasure of getting there early and sitting while enjoying fresh croissants. Light, buttery and steamy the plain croissant was delicious. Later we split a apricot croissant that was bright, fruity and buttery. My wife, who’s been to Paris, said it took her back. We left with a bag of cookies and bread. Which I’m sure will be equally amazing.
MoreA spot with good vibes, delicious eclairs, and solid coffee. A definite 5-star.
Fantastic, if small. The only thing smaller than the indoor seating area is the average pastry cost. For how delicious everything is, you can get multiple full-size pastries for under $10. A personal favorite is the raspberry bombe!
MoreFrench Tutor Guy gives 5 Stars!
Excellent selection of baked goods! Everything looks incredible.
Classically delicious French pastries and great espresso!! Just behind the "main drag" and so so worth it!!!
MoreSome of the best French pastry I’ve had. The quality is what you’d expect at an actual pâtisserie in France. Definitely recommend if in the area.
MoreAwesome, awesome, awesome! This can be hard to spot from the road, but follow the signs and enjoy something, ANYTHING, from this bakery and all around wonderful creator of scrumptious offerings.
MoreWhat a cozy little cafe. They have loads of baked goods, too many to list here, but we never have trouble finding something good to eat. Outdoor seating is also right on the river which is fun for the family.
MoreI was pretty excited to try some french bakery goods from this shop and ended up being really disappointed. This place is a disgrace and a bad name for a real french bakery. The girl who "helped" us was also unfriendly and seemed annoyed when we asked her what some of the unmarked "baked goods" were. I tried the "traditional macaroons", the pistachio and mocha flavor. Both were terrible. The pistachio one instantly squished between my fingers as it was soggy and tasted like playdo. And the mocha one was soggy as well so I tossed it along with the pistachio one. I also had a small chai latte and it was lukewarm. As us Americans like to say, a real sh*thole.
MoreTruly a hidden gem in the heart of New Hope on the rivers edge. A delight for all of your senses. So many unusual treats- they will be the hit of the party. There are even goodies for your four footed friends
